They are decent quality wood, the variety of sizes is handy. They are comfortable in the hand, and I quite like them. I really like how they feel on my scalp.There are a couple things to consider though. The wood is on the raw/dry side so it needs to be oiled for the health of the wood, otherwise it soaks up scalp oil unevenly. Most typical household oil wonât work because they go rancid on wood, that requires some research and possibly another purchase. I like it because I was able to choose what oil I used, and I donât have a wood finish wearing off in my hair. Also I purchased the combs because I was under the impression that wood wouldnât cause static in hair, that has proven false, some days I have more static than when I was using a plastic brush.

A few months ago I bought a boar bristle brush which came with a small peach wood comb. I didn’t take the comb seriously at first, just using it to clean the brush. But then I tried it on my hair and was totally sold on wooden combs. However, I wanted a larger comb. I also needed a wide toothed comb for detangling .I looked at countless combs before deriding on this set, mostly based on all the positive reviews. Still I was a bit skeptical. Well, I was not disappointed. This is one of my best purchases. The combs are simple, made of very smooth unfinished wood, which is what I wanted. They’re very well made and a joy to use–no pulling, no static.They feel great on the scalp. There are two combs with handles–one wide-tooth and one fine tooth. Actually the fine tooth combs are more medium tooth, which is perfect for most purposes. There also a wonderful wide tooth comb without handle which I use for wet hair. The smallest combs are great for purse or pocket, and the long combs are great for combing though a lot of hair at once. My husband took the longest comb and loves it. All but one of the combs was flawless. One of the smallest combs (the one without the handle) is slightly warped. It didn’t seem fair to take off a star for it since the comb is still usable and all the others are great. And you can’t beat the price. If you’re looking for wooden hair combs, you can’t go wrong with this set.
