From the room, far back, a gray-haired man
Came forward and picked up the bow;
Then, wiping the dust from the old violin,
And tightening the loose strings,
He played a melody pure and sweet
As a caroling angel sings. The music ceased, and the auctioneer,
With a voice that was quiet and low,
Said; “What am I bid for the old violin?”
And he held it up with the bow. “The Touch of the Master’s Hand” is an inspirational and captivating film that speaks eloquently to the worth and potential of every individual. This film parable, based on the beloved poem by Myra Brooks Welch, illustrates why all life is valuable and that anyone can find renewal and begin again.

This is a beautiful classic!
I have watched this several times in my whole life and Iâm so happy to have it on the DVD. It has a wonderful message and it is super lovely, and totally classic and nostalgic with a meaningful message that applies in any time, even today.

A masterpiece of how Christ loves us!
This imagery of following the violin is exactly how our life goes sometimes. But the Creator and Savior Jesus Christ still loves us!

it sure touched me
The combination of music and video make this one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. It is based off the poem by Myra Brooks Welch, and if you read the poem, you know what you will see happen. The lyrics of the poem are combined with the most beautiful music. This is a really heart warming video clip about the difference you can make in the life of another.Just so you know, it is only 20 minutes long, so the $20 is a little steep.

From $4.50 for 3 hr 45 min anthology to $18 for 18 min stand-alone video…. slick move!
The one star is for the slick repackaging move someone pulled when no one was looking and has nothing to do with the content itself…Before you spend $18 for this, just wanted to let everyone know that T.C. Christensen’s masterpiece, “Touch of the master’s hand”, USED TO BE part of a 3 hr. 45 min 2009 DVD anthology of 40 video shorts titled “Family home evening DVD presentations” (which you’d never know if you had ordered the anthology from store.lds.org since the table of contents is nowhere to be found). The FHE DVD anthology in still available in languages like German, Portuguese, Italian, and Russian – but alas, NOT English – at $4.50 through church distribution (though I’m not sure if the T.C. Christensen work is still included) but you may still be able to find a secondhand English copy on ebay or online used video website. We obtained our copy from a neighbor emptying out their garage.Somebody must’ve realized if they pulled the other 39 vignettes from that FHE DVD and slapped “Touch of the master’s hand” on a DVD by itself like they’ve done here (and made sure the video was also scrubbed from YouTube), they could charge four times as much.As for the music, I don’t know about $18 version, but the $4.50 FHE version includes the Schubert serenade played by the master violinist in the auction scene as well as the middle section of the Humoresque in G-flat major, op. 101, no. 7, by Antonin Dvorak as background music towards the end of the film. The version of this video on the currently unavailable English FHE anthology has all the music and the actors that many of us remember from decades ago.Happy hunting!

Excellent movie
Good 18 minute movie to evangelize. Describes with few words how God (the master) is able to repair ANYTHING in us (the messed up violin) because he made it (the violin) and the master is the only one who knows the violin’s worth. Nobody can appreciate the violin, even in it’s worst state (drugs and alcoholism), but the maker.

This is a short movie that follows the poem of the same name.If you know the poem you will enjoy the movie. If you don’t know the poem you will be pleasantly surprise. It will touch your heart and the significance will stay in your mind.
