Fantastic
This stuff is really great. You get a huge amount for the cost so it’s really great value. But more importantly it works so well. I’ve used dozens and dozens of clays, waxes and other stying products. For this one I use a tiny bit more than “high hold” clays but vigorously rub together in my hands to really warm it up before applying. Other reviews have said they get a “greasy” look but I don’t at all, just a nice healthy shine and great hold. I think in the past I assumed I needed high hold products but I really don’t as this will do the job perfectly. I style my hair in a combo quiff and side swept and a bit messy on top. And this gives me a great result EVERY TIME. Some days I have to go the gym in the morning without showering and I can wet my hair and restyle it and sometimes that looks even better. Oh the smell is also amazing.

Paste
Great for added texture to keeps waves or curls in place. Light scent that lasts all day. Great product. Not sticky after applied.

Great hold, amazing scent!
I’ve been using this for several years. The scent gives me memories of my childhood…very beachy! The hold is perfect for my short pixie hair. It’s tames my hair, and gives it definition, without being too sticky.

Smells Amazing!
I have tried multiple hair products before, I love how this one leaves my hair looking, but I wish it had a stronger hold. It washes out very easily. Compared to other brands, it has more product for cheaper.

Ermahgerd! Surn Burm murks hur prerdurkt?
First of all, I would like to say hallelujah thank you baby jesus that my favorite sunscreen maker company also makes hair product. I found this by accident after so many trials and disappointments with expensive products. My expectations were high, and I was NOT disappointed upon first use. Where to start? VALUE? CHECK. It’s a super great alternative to most of the expensive and fragrance laden products out there, given the volume of product for the price. It is salon quality, unlike anything in comparable price range I have ever used. IS IT EASY TO USE? Errm, YES! It is easy to stick my finger in it and then apply to my hair. If your hair product requires a more complex procedure, this product is a highly recommended alternative for simplicity. THE SCENT? OMMFG. It’s like a cucumber and a sea urchin had a passionate umbrella drink fueled one night stand in a run down cabana on the beach during a tropical thunderstorm that resulted in a lovechild who is actually a little baby surfboard that they named Benihana. Just close your eyes, take a deep whiff, breathe in that beachy, fresh scent and proclaim “TAKE ME BAAAACK” like every basic white chick you follow on instagram. I have never spent a better $16. This product will matte your hair, it leaves no sheen so you don’t look like a 4th grade douchebucket, the hold is almost non-existent except for the ‘weight’ it adds to your hair, which will give it some texture and the product does work-in like a molding paste. It does not harden or leave hair stiff by any means. I typically need to use what I assume is a little more product than prescribed as I have thick, straight, obnoxiously absorbent hair. Rub any product into my hair and it almost immediately disappears. I always have to use about twice as much as the recommended amount. This product is no different, save for the lack of any buildup that may normally result. It reminds me of the texture I get from swimming in the ocean, as stated in more than one of the other reviews. It’s like the ocean applied the product for you, then told you how handsome you are, gave you a slap on the ass, and said “no worries about your hair today, I got this”. I may experiment with using a little more product to see if I get a little more texture, as that is a completely normal challenge for me with any product. It usually takes a little experimentation to find that perfect dollop. Is this a ‘one finger dollop’ product? Yes, luckily. I am just not sure if it is more like a ‘finger tip’ dollop, or a ‘GOB’ dollop, but either way, and just like your mom, one finger and a little finesse will do the trick. Smear it on your hands, rub it into your hair, then ‘tussle’ a bit to recreate that ‘early-morning, just woke up and sneaked out on my one night stand’ appearance we all strive for. Stay sleezy, my friends. Sun Bum Surf Paste will ensure that you maintain that debonair, yet relaxed and confident beefcake persona that is envied by so many, and duplicated by so few.

Good texture and scent
No overwhelming chemical smell. Very coconut. This is a soft waxy paste, light to medium hold, a little goes a long way. It’s not sticky or greasy. I use it on a pixie cut that’s not super short.

Great smell and nice hold
I really like the beachy smell of this product and it has a good hold on my hair. A little greasier than matte clay type products but works well for my hair.

Great smell⦠oily texture
Iâm back with a pomade review of sun bum surf paste, which is apparently Publixâs favorite sunscreen company because they promote it everywhere. This is their relatively new foray into hair pomade, which has been largely hit-or-miss. Ironically this is neither a true paste nor a medium-hold pomade, but it can work great as a low-hold texturizer if you know what you are getting into.Scent: This is everything you think of when you think of âthe beach.â Reminds me of Daytona Supply Coâs âcoastal breakâ hilo pomade scent. Kind of a mix between surf wax, coconut, and a tropical sunscreen-y scent. I am a big fan of beach scents, so this was the selling point for me. One of my favorite scents. 5/5Texture: This is where this âmatteâ pomade sadly falls flat. The texture is very heavy and oily. It will leave white residue on your hands. Fortunately, when itâs in your hair is doesnât look oily, but the texture is far from a matte finish imho. 1/5Hair Hold: This is classified as a medium hold pomade. It wonât hold up if youâre going for high hold hair styles, but it will give you texture. I would call it more of a matte texturizer/separator than a true medium hold pomade. If you are using it as a texturizer, it works great. Maybe call it a âlow hold.â 2/5Wash out: This is a water-based pomade, and as a result, the wash out is much superior to oil-based pomade No surprises here â it washes out well like itâs supposed to. 5/5Overall: 3/5. Itâs not a bad pomade, but I have to be honest, I expected a bit more for the price. The scent is awesome, the texture is mediocre, and it gives a low hold. As a result, this would work GREAT for a matte texturizer but falls short of being a good medium-hold pomade. If the price was around $2 less, it would be an option I would consider. However, for the price, there are a wide variety of better options out there.

I bought this because of a few recommendations from TikTok and honestly I wasnât sure how it would go. But honestly it was perfect, it worked far better then expected. My hair was still soft and moveable but only in a way to move it to the placement I wanted. My hair didnât end up too hard or fall down because the product wasnât strong enough. It truly gave me the structure I wanted for my hair without compromising the feel of my hair

Very happy with this, does what is says and smells great. Not too hard to wash out either.

Bought this for my son who has thick hair…he loves the smell and texture and it’s not oily. It holds his hair without feeling too heavy or greasy.
