Orange & Spice: Calamity Jane Hard Cologne summons the spirit of a high-stakes saloon, blending the bold notes of clove, orange, and cinnamon with a daring whiskey finish, perfect for both men’s and women’s scents that speak of adventure.
It’s a pocket-perfect round tin of pressed cologne that you can carry with you wherever you go. It’s not overpoweringly strong, but easy to re-apply if you need a little boost. They’re designed to create an ambiance, not an impact.
Rub it directly on your pulse points (yeah, go ahead and rub the tin right on there!) – or – swirl your finger around on the surface until it’s nice and warmed, and then apply.
These are small-batch, handcrafted solid colognes. They come in a little tin with a twist-top, and the little tin comes in a very fine (and reusable, I might add) box. It’s made with ingredients like jojoba seed oil and beeswax. It’s hard to the touch, but melts when you warm it a little bit.
Raucous Charm, Refined: Strike a balance between the rowdy and the refined with this men’s and women’s solid cologne, a harmonious blend that’s as suited for a night at the saloon as it is for a day of daring deeds.
Crafted with Grit and Grace: Infused with natural ingredients and encased in unique packaging, this hard cologne not only nourishes the skin but also pays homage to the untamed beauty of the land and the spirited legacy of Calamity Jane.

Customers say

Customers praise the personal fragrance for its pleasant scent, high quality, and subtleness. They find it has a nice smell, is unique, and doesn’t overpower. Many are satisfied with the carryability and leather material. However, opinions differ on longevity, value for money, and size.

    Gambler >> Duke Cannon Bourbon
*LONG REVIEW WARNING*I purposefully waited until I received Duke Cannon’s Bourbon solid cologne before writing this review, just so I could compare the two – in fact, having never used solid colognes before, I took a chance with the Gambler as the description seemed right up my alley (and it delivered), even though the reviews for the Duke Cannon product made me think it may be just as good, or better. Here’s the thing: most people buy something off the internet and convince themselves it’s what they really wanted, because they don’t wanna waste money and do a side-by-side comparison – but I did.First off, you must realize that the Gambler and Bourbon are targeting the same audience – people who want to give off a warm, inviting scent of bourbon not like a drunk, but like you walked into a rustic tavern that specializes in high-end whiskey, with those planks comprising the floor and craftsmanship oozing off each article. It’s about the subtle ambiance that signals you’re a hard-working man with a vision who has earned that sipping whiskey at the end of the day, and the warmth of the booze is expediting your leisure activity (which you still execute with finesse). The Gambler will satisfy the above whereas Bourbon will make you smell like someone who just graduated from Axe body spray, by spending about the same amount of $.The Duke Cannon take was everything I *didn’t* want in a bourbon-inspired solid cologne, with its pungent, alcoholic, nondescript, semi-suffocating smell reminiscent of cheap department store spray-on cologne – it’s for the man without class, dousing himself with an allergy-inducing redolence with the hope of getting lucky at the mainstream club.Outlaw Soaps’ Gambler has DEPTH, a warm fragrance of the highest quality bourbon, caramel malt sweetness, strong but well-balanced apricots, and a *hint* of expensive, well-crafted leather, JUST AS ADVERTISED (sans the welcome surprise of the apricots). It’s more subtle than Duke Cannon, but I realized that I don’t *want* to smell like the over-cologned douchebag in a room with genuine/real people in close quarters – it’s more about being a man who smells HELLA good & unique to boot, without bullying another’s bubble. A woman worth the trouble will pick up on this.Their customer service was also excellent initially when I expressed interest in buying more of their products (they sent me samples of all their soaps very quickly just so I could make a decision), but when I expressed concern over the negative reviews of another one of their products, I almost got the feeling of being ghosted. However, my mind has been blown by literally every concoction of theirs that I’ve tried, and that includes the soap sample bundle, the Magic Beard & Hair Elixir, and of course the Gambler – so I’m not too worried in terms of authenticity of scent, performance, and beyond excellent quality from this brand in general.Last but not least, you have to warm up the cologne and apply it before you judge the scent as it *can* remind you of a scented candle – as some reviewers have stated to my erstwhile concern – when you open the tin (although oddly that association, even without warming the solid, seems to pretty much go away after a while once you fall in love, as I did, with the depth and nuances of the scent profile). At the end of the day, I can look past Outlaw Soaps’ flaw with oddly and alternatingly enthusiastic then cold customer service (on just one occasion out of several extremely positive ones) – and I can do this because they make it count where it effing matters. No-one else out there comes anywhere close to the richness, complexity, uniqueness, and sheer creativity of their scents – they’re *artists,* and it takes one to know one. Lately my body/mind had been naturally craving aromatherapy, and from that perspective, thank God Outlaw Soaps exists. You deserve five stars because you’re SOMETHING ELSE altogether – like a temperamental Greek God who’s still above and beyond the best human.

First Time Using Outlaw, Now a Lifelong Customer
Recently started experimenting with solid colognes after my stash of Raw Chemistry spray dwindled (which, I can also highly vouch for their product as well). I wanted something robust and earthy, without the power to clear a room. This Blazing Saddles caught my eye, quite literally because the packaging and art is really cool, but also because the scent sounded like exactly what I wanted.I received my tin yesterday and I have to say that I am blown away. The smell really is accurate to what the box described. I would say the main scents are sage, gunpowder, and leather, but the others described on the box are lurking in there as well. Application is easy, especially when the product is warmed up in a pocket or something first. Just swirl a finger around on the wax and apply behind the ears, or on the neck. I feel like the amount sold in each tin is a great value considering you only need a thin application. It will take a while, even with daily wear, to see some major dent in the wax.The effective use of this cologne is something people need to think about when buying, too. The smell certainly presents itself quite boldly, BUT it does not carry. People on the other side of the room won’t smell it, and this is true for most solid colognes. I would compare it best to the way that a deodorant projects. If you want something that REALLY projects, this probably isn’t for you. That being said, the smell does carry even a few feet outside of one’s personal space bubble, enough so that people sitting around you in a bar or restaurant will smell it. A word on longevity – after some experimenting, I found that the cologne will stretch a good eight hours, but only with the first 2 to 4 being really present (depending on the environment), after this the smell tapers into more of a background smell. You will catch it when the wind blows, or someone will be able to smell it if they are really close. If you desire more intensity, just reapply. The tin is solid and won’t open, and it’s pocket sized, so this is something you can take with you anywhere. In closing, I just want to thank the team at Outlaw Soaps for creating this incredible cologne. I’m really impressed because it was exactly what I have been looking for. I wouldn’t even mind seeing this as a deodorant!

Great scent, great value, bad tin
Love this scent. I had a lot of luck with it (if you know what I mean). Very fetching and rustic, both the scent and the presentation and packaging. Subtle, long-lasting, and woodsy in the best way. However the tin unfortunately doesn’t like to cooperate. I had to abandon it about halfway down the puck because the danged tin wouldn’t open right anymore. It didn’t appear deformed in any way. Won’t stop me from buying another one though. Hopefully it was just a minor manufacturing defect.
