    Excellent product
I have been using this brand of hair coloring for approximately 14 years. It leaves hair shinny and soft.

    Love Satin Hair color Brand!
Been using this for awhile and does not dry my hair out. My beauty store where I purchased closed, and now I found this on Amazon!

    Proven product.
I’ve used this product for a long time. It covers my gray hairs and seems to leave it full.

    It colors very well
I am not a professional hair styler/dresser. My sister is. I asked her for a good product to use (I had been using henna, which she sd was a complete no-no). I use it to color gray. It works well. Easy to use. Again, I eyeball everything and have been using this for about a year now. It works great for me. However, I cannot compare it to any other color treatment besides the no-no henna. I believe maybe once every two – four months (I don’t pay attention to the time) My hair grows fast. It doesn’t fade or become dull or ashy in between touch ups.

First level 4 color I’ve had not turn my hair pitch black
Natural haircolor is 5a, but I prefer it slightly darker. I’ve tried just about every box dye that is 4N or 4A, as well as a handful of professional dyes (redken, matrix, wella), and it always turns out nearly jet-black (and doesn’t fade to anywhere near level 4 for months).I mixed this with a random cheap brand of vol 10 developer, and was concerned that it didn’t really seem like it was changing color. I went with it anyway, starting with my roots and then brushing it to the ends. With a 2:1 ratio of developer to dye, the mixture is loose enough to distribute easily to the ends with a brush or large-tooth comb. Only let it sit on for about 5 minutes once I was completely done, but I have super thick hair and it takes me a while to cover everything, so the roots had been saturating for probably 20-30m at that point. The ends of my hair are super damaged because I previously had it bleached to white, so they pick up color extremely quickly. If you have virgin or not extremely compromised hair, or if your hair is not so thick that it takes you forever just to get the roots covered, you could leave it in longer.Washed out super easy, and it is 3.5N. The undertones lean more red than green, as they should for a true neutral brown. My hair doesn’t appear to be any more damaged than it was before dying.

    Covers gray
Used with satin 20 developer and it covers gray very well. I left it on for 45 minutes, didn’t dry my hair. Also, color does not wash out and lasts at for 3 to 4 weeks, I do root touch ups in between.

What shade do I need? (question for Satin Hair color professional)
I absolutely love Satin Hair Color — great shine and color, beautifully colors gray, and is better for my hair than many other brands. My natural dark brown hair has cool tones, so I have a problem with brown hair color that has reddish tones — definitely not a good look for me. To complicate things, my hair takes color such that most dark brown hair colors look too dark (almost black) on me. What is the best hair color for ashy dark brown hair? I’ve been mixing two Satin colors (1/3 5A and 2/3 4N) with great results, but I’m tired of mixing. Can the manufacturer please tell me if there’s a single shade that will work as well for me? Thank you!
