I used Noxema shaving cream for sensitive skin for more than 25 years. After Unilever purchased Noxema, they decided to discontinue their line of canned shaving creams. Luckily I had a good supply of Noxema shaving cream, So I set out to find a comparable replacement. I looked and looked, for more than a year. After digging and digging, I discovered that a European company purchased the Noxema product recipes. The company, don’t recall their name, had many other small companies listed under the parent company. One of those companies was Proraso. It appeared it was the only company that manufactured shaving cream. I then started researching Proraso shaving creams. It appeared that Proraso is one of the best shaving creams in Europe. I then discovered on multiple forums, that many people who had used Noxema were switching over to Proraso. Even though it was expensive, at least more expensive than the $3.00 bucks I had been paying for the Noxema product, I purchased a can as a sampler. It’s the closest thing I’ve ever found to the old standby from Noxema. After using it for 2 years now, I’m sold. In fact, I even think it’s better than the Noxema. Buy a can and decide for yourself. Awesome product, glad I found it.

Best replacement for Noxzema shave cream that I have found
I was a faithful user of Noxzema shave cream, but I guess that is no more. Searched around and found this. Similar pleasant experience and skin sensation from shaving. This doesn’t go quite as far as Noxzema. But I like better than anything else currently on the market. I might explore if there are different versions of Proraso, but I will keep buying and recommending this brand.

Firm foam, light lemon scent, allows for a good shave. Everything oozes class. Far better than anything else I used in my life so far. Will keep on buying. Would recommend it.

Great for sensitive skin
I used the white can of noxema sensitive shave cream for years. It was one of the few shaving creams i could use without skin irritation. So of course they discontinued it. I looked into it and the Italian company that was manufacturing it was Prosaro. So I tried their sensitive shaving cream and found it to be very like noxema without the menthol.

A little pricey but still well worth it. The smell is wonderful. It has a good feel on the skin and provides a nice comfortable shave. Not sure why but it feels warm on my skin – maybe just in my mind. Makes me feel like I am in an old Italian barbershop. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase. I just love it.
