How did we get our start?

After traveling the world and witnessing the devastating effects of period poverty firsthand, Amber, along with her brother Benjamin, started Pixie Cup with the goal of putting a menstrual cup in the hands of every woman in need.

Why do we give back?

We find our inspiration from Acts 20:35: “…It is more blessed to give than to receive.” This verse is inscribed on the inside of our cups as a reminder of the Pixie Cup that was gifted to someone in need. When you invest in a Pixie Cup, you invest in period freedom for yourself + one.

    Great For A Disc Newbie
The applicator gave me the confidence to switch from using tampons to an eco friendly & healthier option – the pixie disc. It did take a couple attempts to find the correct placement … for me inserting the applicator halfway worked best. Using lubricant, I did not experience any pinching or discomfort. The directions recommend after releasing the disc, to pull the applicator out slightly and use the tip to push the disc into place. I followed that suggestion and haven’t had any issues with leaking … seems to be exactly where it’s supposed to be! Hopefully, I won’t need to rely on the applicator indefinitely, however it is super helpful in making the switch to using a menstrual disc.

    Easier than I thought
I’m used to small tampons and this is much bigger.. think a super with a cardboard applicator… or like the small clamps at the gynecologist. But it was honestly the only way I was ever going to try a product like this. I’m not into the reaching in and around a bloody mess. I’m on day 2 of trying this product and it’s getting easier and more natural every time. The first time I was in the shower. Made it pretty easy.

    Very useful BUT..
I do enjoy the usefulness of this applicator, but I do wish it had a wider area to put your fingers on to push the plunge part in. Like a medical syringe, an area to put your index and middle finger on, because even with the Pixie lube, it can be difficult to push it in.

Easy to use and very helpful
If you’re used to tampons and new to the whole disc thing this is definitely for you. Now you can insert your disc just like a tampon rather than holding it together with your fingers and just hoping it goes in. I was worried my large disc wouldn’t fit however it did I just had to shove it in and then a little out the bottom to get the tail in. I’m sure the smaller discs would be even easier to get in. I would recommend lube on the end if you’re on a more dry part of your cycle and also in the tube to make it slide better. I would also recommend washing the applicator right after use because there is a tiny hole on the end of the case so things could leak if not washed right away. Overall a very smart product if you find using the disc by itself difficult.

    Great idea, bad execution
These work, but are kind of a pain to use. I was struggling with proper disk placement because I have short fingers and a bad wrist. The applicator doesn’t slide smoothly when you press the plunger bit in. I think the plunger really should be like half a millimeter smaller for it to slide in better cause I feel like I’m fighting to press the plunger down even if it’s lubricated inside and out. Additionally I wish the end where you hold it had a larger lip or wings to hold onto, because of how hard it is to slide the plunger you lose grip of the applicator easily. Also, tmi because of how hard it is to slide I pinched my labia and it took like 3 minutes to pull the plunger bit out and separate the 2 pieces. That was really unpleasant.I really think all these issues could be fixed by revising the design just a little bit, make the plunger a little bit thinner and add larger wings to allow for a better grip.

    What a find!
This is perfect for easy application. I always used to be a tampon girly then found they were so expensive, so changed to cloth pads. Decided I wanted to try the cup I couldn’t get the hang of how it was always felt uncomfortable matter how much I tried.Sooo time to try the disc and this makes the whole processes easier! What a great product

    Game changer
I never could understand how to use the rings. Tho helped immensely – at first.Everything loaded and then I had to wrangle pushing in the plunger. Put a flange on it or something. Or narrower grippy space something. That could’ve been easier.Nevertheless. It worked. Thank you.

I found this to be more unhelpful than helpful.
The idea is there and it sounded like it would work and be helpful but it really isn’t. Its large and clunky and doesn’t put the disc in the right place so you need to go in there anyway. Also I didn’t know before purchasing but this product cannot be cleaned with any kind of heat. so steaming is out. If you’re like me that has now made this product more of a chore than an aid. I think it is a good idea but Maybe a few more versions need to come out before it is worth purchasing.

I’d tried the disc for a couple of days before getting this. The first time I put it in it was fine, second time it leaked, and then I was just paranoid when using it that it wasn’t in right. It felt like it could very easily slip out of place, hence the leak. I ordered this thinking it would just make it easier to put in, but the first time I used it was an “Oooooh!” moment. I hadn’t been shoving it far enough back. When I put it in with the applicator it was very obviously secure. It is like putting in a large tampon. It feels a bit weird when it pops out so far back, but it’s easier than pushing it in manually. I’ve seen other reviews saying it is difficult to push, but I’ve used the large and medium pixie discs in it and both were slightly stiff at first, but slid along fine once they started moving.I think now knowing where it should be I could potentially do it myself, but I actually prefer using the applicator. Seeing as the disc only needs changing twice a day it’s not like I need to carry it around, but it’s pretty compact so I could if I wanted.Definitely recommend for new disc users!

Using discs is still very new to me, but I must say this applicator definitely does a lot of the hard work when you’re initially learning. Be careful of some pinching that can happen, and use it slowly until you’re used to it. I found it made starting out with discs much easier!

Brand new to discs , and I have long nails so brought this to help, I would buy again, but only used about twice till I got a hang of the discs , once I realised it’s basically like inserting a tampon, but then pushing it up a little more, there was no need for the applicator. I will say it’s hard to push to get the disc out, really hard , you need to hands!

Waste of money. Followed their instructions and the cup (their own brand, smallest size) got stuck inside the applicator every single time. Complete waste of money, don’t bother.
