This product really works!
I read about the Paul Mitchell Extra Body Thicken Up serum in several “style” magazines and decided to give it a try, and I am glad that I did. I have been using a different brand of leave-in thickening lotion, and find the Paul Mitchell Thicken Up far superior. I have extremely thin hair and not much of it, so I’ve tried many hair products in the last few years. This one is a keeper! The Extra Body Thicken up serum comes in a plastic squeeze tip bottle and I apply a small amount to my hair right after I wash it. My hair definitely feels thicker whether I blow-dry it or let it air dry after I apply the this product. The Extra Body Thicken Up is not greasy or “creamy” feeling and does not weigh my hair down the way some other products have. This Paul Mitchell product leaves my hair feeling a little bit sticky after I apply it, but once I blow it dry with a brush, or comb through it after air drying, the sticky feeling is gone. I use regular rinse out conditioner before I apply the Thicken Up and I use a keratin fiber product after I style my hair and the Thicken Up seems to be compatible with these other products. I believe that my hair looks thicker when I use the Paul Mitchell Extra Body Thicken Up and I know it feels thicker to the touch. I also find this product to be a good value since a little goes a long way. I’m not sure how well this product would work on long, or curly hair, but for my short, thin hair, the Paul Mitchell Extra Body Thicken Up works better than anything else I’ve tried!

lightweight, little goes long way, gives texture & volume boost to my long, medium thick hair
My hair: medium thick (used to be crazy thick), long (down to middle of back), mix of waves and curls. Not dyed, some grays, rarely use products, never use heat tools (got ’em but haven’t used them in years).In short: It adds a light boost of volume and fluffiness. Doesnt feel crunchy or sticky, but I can feel a little something. I imagine more volume could be made with extra products and tools. But for me, just adding some onto damp or dry hair allows it to look boosted; a little ore filled out.Reason for my wanting to try this: what used to be crazy thick hair is now just regular thickness. Since it is long, sometimes the ends look scraggily. Trims don’t change this, I think it has more to do with its propensity to curl and wave. And then with thinning, the new growth doesn’t quite catch up with long hair. Some days my hair looks full through to the ends, sometimes scraggly. This helps to make it look full through to the ends. I can wear my hair down, and it looks nice.Little goes long way. I dont use it daily, but it is nice to know I have something for when I am wanting to look presentable. I may give a couple of other products in this line a try. I had learned of this product through a friend that has thinning hair, and also wanted to have more body. She loves it and has been recommending it. So far I like it. I will update if I experience anything else, or if I find that I really love it.

It’s okay not bad
I have fine, silky hair. Most products weigh my hair down very easily and leave a dirty residue feeling. This is a gel. While using this product I did not notice a real difference in volume or fullnes, only minimal. But I did notice it does not leave that dirty residue feeling, I’m going to keep trying and see what I think later

I am so disappointed, I was so hoping this product would work for my fine dead-straight short hair but it doesn’t. I have a full head of ‘fine’ hair but it’s not thining. I have the type of hair that looks best cut into shorter styles (above ears) otherwise it looks thin and straggly when grown longer.I tried the product in varying amounts and in different conditions (damp hair, dry hair) and it just doesn’t provide my hair volume. I don’t even notice any extra shine that the product claims. Such a pity.
