I would normally wait longer to review but was very impressed after one use where I was just testing it and not even trying to do a good job. As with all similar products, this still requires the user to take appropriate care to avoid having a very bad experience. I found this to be much better for trimming than the old beard trimmer I was using. I used one of the shortest trim settings without any problems which was never the case with my old trimmer that wanted to destroy any loose skin it contacted. I also find that this is much better for some of the shorter/finer body hair I’ll use it on. The foil attachment worked great and got the boys as smooth as I’ll ever need them to be, though I haven’t taken the time to get every spot yet. When the alternatives are using my old trusty Mach 3 razor or getting them waxed, I think using this instead is a no brainer. It’s also much easier to handle whether trimming or shaving since it’s shorter, not as wide, and much lighter.

Functionally Deficient
Tldr: The guards are poorly designed, and likely not going to last long at all. Doesnt work well on thicker or thinner body hair, not special, not worth it.I bought this after reading positive reviews and just about every social media person sponsoring it, just looking for a trimmer that worked. The price seemed ok, but I was let down very quickly when using the trimmer.Beard Trimming: I’ve got fairly coarse beard hair that is not curly, this trimmer snagged hairs repeatedly with and without the guard on, like my facial hair was too thick for the blades or the trimming mechanism was too weak, and I made sure to fully charge it before each attempt. The guards just push hair out of the way instead of feeding it into the trimmer, and the trimming length “adjustment” is just some ridges that loosely hold the guards at fixed positions via friction, and can be accidentally pushed back if you arent careful. The plastic deformation on the guards from pushing them onto the trimmer and removing them each time you need to switch lengths is gonna wear them out soo quickly that they will be rendered useless after a few changes, not a good engineering decision. After trying about 4-5 times i went back to my old one-blade trimmer.Body hair: I’ve got finer/thinner semi-wavy body/pitt hair, the guards let maybe 2% of the hairs reach the blades and just push the rest of the hairs out of the way. I tried every different direction, multiple passes, pre and post showering (dry vs damp hair, no deodorant or anything to clog the blades)The hairs that did make it to the blades did not get snagged like my beard hairs tho, so ill give it that.Overall Quality and Presentation: in the hand the trimmer feels nice, and i liked that it had wireless charging and usb-c, the storage case kinda felt like it was for a different trimmer, none of the guards really fit in the pockets like they belonged there. The packaging was nice, this trimmer is basically all show and very little go.Basically you need the goldylocks hair type/length for this trimmer to work for you, and even then there are some poor design choices being made, and it will still likely snag and rip out your hair. I would not recommend this trimmer to anyone i valued my relationship with.P.s. apologies for TMI with the hair types but it was necessary for a thorough review.

EDITEarly this AM while preparing to return this device because it doesn’t trim as close as I wanted, there was this peculiar tab sticking out of the box that said “Read before use.”Attached to that tab was an instruction booklet. And in that booklet were diagrams describing the different trim heights for the myriad of attachments that this thing came with…I realized, much to my chagrin, that I was not mentally equipped to handle a device that gave numerous choices in specific hair length and very unfairly rated the 5.0 at two stars. Manscaped customer service even reached out to help.I have rightfully raised the rating for this device as the phenomenon that I was encountering was less a flaw in grooming technology, rather just a defect within operator headspace.Please do yourself a favor, and read the instructions to aid in your selection of your required hair length.PREVIOUS REVIEWCurrent modern trends in men’s grooming standards have led to the proliferation of men’s grooming devices. Although I do follow recent standards, I remain very old-school in mentality.I have owned a Manscaped 2.0 since its genesis circa 2018. This device was a “no-frills” compact groomer whose battery life had begun diminishing over time (as expected). Adjusting to its shorter operating time was not that great of an obstacle, however, the larger issue of razor burn surfaced.My poor 2.0 fought valiantly for over half a decade, but unfortunately, it became time to part ways.The next hurdle became the price point as the new machines are about twice the price of the old ones. Fortunately, I was able to get a bundle deal and add a nose trimmer and a bag (if it arrives) for about $110ish.I was excited to be able to have Manscaped most developed device, and (for some reason) excited that it was USB C vs standard charger. That is where the happiness ended.My first attempt to use the 5.0 resulted in not only frustration, some injury, and far longer time spent grooming due to its shaving head. Upon delivery, the 5.0 has a plastic head attached to the grooming surface which allows for controlled cutting lengths.I prefer to groom down to the skin so that wasn’t ideal for me, but the plastic head was attached in a way that made me assume I would break it if I continued to force it off. As soon as it tore some hair from a place that I don’t want to name in an Amazon review, that plastic head came right (explicit) off.After feeling dumb (and not wanting to admit to the wife that I didn’t read the instructions) I thought it was going to be smooth (pun intended) sailing. That was not the case. This new device appears to be manufactured with safety involved (probably for people like me) and the cutting head remains much further back (from the cutting area) than my 2.0 which doesn’t allow for close cuts, and requires extensive passes to remove the hair.So not only does the 5.0 take a longer time to pick up the hair due to its safe design, it doesn’t even cut close enough to the skin.After two different attempts at using their newest feature-rich device, I am unfortunately going to commit a cardinal sin and send this (now used) grooming device back to its maker.p.s. I did enjoy the flashlight feature far more than I would have thought.

The MANSCAPED® Lawn Mower® 5.0 is awesome! It makes trimming a breeze, especially down there. The SkinSafe® tech really works—no cuts or nicks, which is a huge plus. I love that it’s waterproof, so I can use it in the shower without stressing about it getting damaged.Charging is easy with the USB-C, and the travel pouch is handy for keeping everything together when I’m heading out. Overall, it’s a solid trimmer that gets the job done and then some. Totally recommend it if you want a smooth and safe trim!

Comes in a neat simple quality packaging.The blades included in the pack cover pretty much any length of body hair you wish to have.Most important part is that it’s safe to use, I never had a single cut using this product.Battery life of 60 minutes means you don’t have to recharge it too often.I feel like I’ll be using this product for several years and replace it with the newest model when I need a new one. Reasonable price for a great product!
