Would purchase again.
Have dyed my hair for many years using standard boxed dyes from pharmacy. Did some design about the awful chemicals and decided to try this less harmful option. First thing I noticed was no sharp odor. I had found the odor from regular dyes to be so strong it made my eyes burn. This has none of that. Found the instructions to be easy to follow and same amount of time as my usual dyes. Color is very rich and intense. Good that it definitely covered grey hairs. Bad that it came out a shade or two darker than I expected. Hair feels a little brittle and dry – no worse than usual after dyeing. I think the grey coverage is superior and love that I didnât have to put a lot of harmful chemicals on my scalp to achieve this.

7NVA works great on brassy yellow / orange
I needed to get rid of some old dark brown in my hair, So of course I bleached… TWICE! I had a horrible Reddish orange an yellow tips and through out the rest of my hair. I new I needed a ashy violet undertone to achieve my medium brown. Not the almost black I had before…This color gave me the perfect tone! It’s light, but still brown. 7 NVA.. Almost the highlights i wanted. Without a horrible smell..The only an I mean only con is… I needed more product! 1 bottle didn’t saturate my hair hardly.. I really had to work it all over my thin hair.

Very pleased
I purchased the dark blonde neutral. My hair is medium brown to darker. I have a little bit of gray, but not much. It covered that. It brought it up to a dark blonde, which is what I was looking for. I forgot to take a before picture. I was at the hairdressers every 2 1/2 months for years getting my highlights. I wanted something easier. This makes it look more natural. I only have to go to the hairdressers, maybe every five months now. That would be healthier for my hair. There was no burning using this hair dye. I already purchased another box.

Might be great for short hair or hair not previously colored. For me? Awful.
I used Light Golden Red, &7NCG, Genova Red.On the package, the color looked like an exact match for my original hair color. (I have just enough grey, here & there throughout my hair, to want to cover it… for now, anyway. Vanity… right? lol )I fell in love with Madison Reed’s packaging and the thoughtfulness shown in this very complete hair color kit. The messaging in it dazzled me, as well.Using the product, I didn’t care for the smell of it, but it wasn’t nearly as bad as some ammonia-based hair color products. So far, so good.In addition, I was impressed by how much hair color was included. Even with long, thick hair, I was able to cover everything from the roots to the very longest tips of my hair, and do so completely. The included shampoo and conditioner were both lavish and generous. Again, as someone with very thick hair, this was appreciated. But then, fresh from the shower, I looked in the mirror.Umm…It looked like the color coverage wasn’t consistent. Not even close.Worse, when my hair was dry, the color at the top of my head was spectacular, but starting at about ear level, the color was much darker.Indoors, it looks almost black. On someone as fair-skinned as me, the effect was jarring. Suddenly, every freckle and laugh line seemed more obvious. This was NOT flattering.Oddly, the ends of my hair barely took any color at all. That was fine, because naturally colored hair is usually lighter (sun bleached) at the ends.In the accompanying photo, my head is tilted, so I’m looking up. You’re seeing the top of my head as well as my back. Also, that picture was taken on a slightly overcast day, so the variations in color aren’t due to extreme lighting. It looks far worse indoors, but I think the photo conveys the essense of the problem.Note: It’s been a few years since I was a hair model, but I picked up a lot of hair coloring tips from the pros. So, I’m still mindful of the importance of coloring my hair thoroughly and consistently, and following package directions – to the letter – for the best results. In other words, it’s not as if I smothered the top of my head with hair dye, and just loosely spread the rest of my hair with far lighter coverage.Likewise, I didn’t douse the middle (now darkest) band of my hair with extra color, or omit coloring the ends, either. To me, it looks like this hair color should not be used on long, previously colored hair. I’d ask for a refund if I had anything to return to the seller, but – of course – I used the complete package. So, at best, that was a waste of $30.I’m going to wait a week so my hair has time to recover, and then I’ll be using an “oops!” products to remove the Madison Reed hair color. Fingers crossed, it’ll restore how my hair looked before using Madison Reed’s hair color. (If that doesn’t work, Plan B is to streak my hair with blonde. At worst, it’ll look “artsy.”)I’ll agree that the Madison Reed hair color at the top of my head looks exactly as I’d hoped. It’s very close to the color shown on the product’s packaging. The probem is: The rest of my hair looks awful. If your hair is short – and, preferably, has never been colored before – you may love Madison Reed. For me, this was an extremely distressing experience.Fortunately, I work at home. This week, only my family will see my hair.If I go out, I’ll wear a hat. Then, my hair will look oddly dark with almost blonde sun-bleaching at the ends. Short-term, I’m okay with that.I was tempted to give this product two stars because the packaging was a delight to read, and the included gloves, cap, shampoo, and conditioner were wonderful extras. However, I’m so disappointed by the product itself, I have to give this one star, and share my experience with others, so they don’t make a similar mistake.

Amazing Gray Coverage Without the Scalp Irritation
I’ve been using drug store hair dye brands for years, and they always irritated my scalp. I decided to try the Madison Reed Radiant Hair Color Kit in Positano Black, and I’m so glad I did! The formula is ammonia-free and contains fewer chemicals, which means no more scalp irritation for me.I color my hair every 6-8 weeks to cover my gray roots, and this product has been a game changer. The color doesn’t fade between applications, and the coverage is excellent. Even though it’s a bit more expensive, it’s worth every penny for the comfort and quality it provides. Highly recommend this for anyone looking for a gentle yet effective at-home hair dye!

Great product!
I previously had my hair colored in salons a few times within the past year. I got a little tired of the upkeep and having to pay hundreds of dollars so I decided to use a box dye for the first time. I am not disappointed with this product! My hair had lighter highlights so I decided to go darker and choose a color closer to my roots. I bought the dark auburn brown and my hair came out great. I love the color and love how easy it was to use. Directions are clear and simple. After rinsing and styling my hair, my hair feels so soft and is shiny. I would definitely recommend this hair dye product! I will be using this from now on instead of going to salons.

Iâm sorry I was disappointed
I have used this product before and was very happy with it. I decided that I would get it again. I chose a color close to mine. I had colored it recently, too a light auburn color.. it had excellent shine. But it looked like my same color. I thought that maybe it would give me depth or different colors but it did not. It was too similar. The color on my hair came from a $10 box. So I was surprised that my hair looked pretty much the same when I used this product. If thereâs explanation and I did something incorrect, I wish they would write me and tell me. I wanted to love this.
