Nice but leaks
This is such a great concept. But two design flaws: you canât just set the sponge into the holder, you have to use both hands free to return the sponge home. Second flaw: the oil works through the holder. You have to store the whole thing in yet another holder or container or youâll get oil on everything it touches. I still like it but be aware of the reality. The sponge does spread the oil well.

I use the DEBETOOL to thinly apply food grade mineral oil on both wooden cutting boards and wooden serving bowls. It helps in using correct amount of oil and spreading a thin layer of mineral oil on both wooden cutting boards and wooden serving bowls. It does the job and the holding cup keeps the applicator from picking up contaminants or leaving oil on unwanted surfaces. Well made tool.

Works great but oil leaks through the container
The bottom container is bamboo and evidently porous enough to let olive oil leak through and collect on the shelf. I put a coaster under the unit and all is well. The applicator puts a very thin layer of oil on cooking surfaces. Thinner than you could do by hand with a paper towel. Think of all the fat and calories I am skipping! Works great – looks great.

Ok but falls apart
Design and functionality are as described. Easy to use, just dab wax and spread on your cutting board or utensils. Not very durable at all. I noticed even the first time using that pieces of black plastic were being left behind on the cutting boards. That defeats the purpose of using a wooden cutting board vs. plastic in the first place. Pretty small but fits well in the had and in wax container. Didn’t have any type of smell before using. Given that the sponge falls apart and you get little black plastic all over your board, I would say this is not a good purchase. Try to find something that won’t fall apart and leave plastic behind.
