From muddy, dirty dark blonde hair with orange/gold/yellow/coppery red/green hues to a perfect neutral cool ( ashy ) light brown
This will probably be a rather lengthy review…….I hope it helpsSo, I’ll start by telling you what I started out with, why I decided to purchase Clairol Perfect 10 hair colouring and more importantly the specific color I chose ( Lightest Cool Brown ) O.K, Going back about 1 month ago I decided to go to the salon and have my hair colored. I wanted an ashy light brown ( my natural color is more of a dark, dark ash blonde to a Lighter ash brown ). I had gone lighter ( bleach ) about 6 months before and just wanted it back to it’s “natural” color. It looked ok when I left the salon but the next day I noticed very warm tones ( reddish, coppery yellow….Yulk ) I suppose I should have gone back to the salon but at that point I did want her touching my hair again ( I had really stressed to her the importance of cool ash with “NO” warm tones……cheap salon…..the kind where you don’t need an appointment….My Bad. ) If you are anything like me than having a color of hair that does not agree with you is divesting and can be all consuming, add some brassy tones and it’s over. So away I went, scouring the internet trying to figure out how to fix nightmare that was now my “less than flattering hair color”. In order to save myself ( and you ) time I’m not going to go into every detail from here, I will simply list in order what I did ( and how It went from bad….to worse….to fixed )Starting color after salon visit: Warm light brown with a “Ton” of brass. Based on info from the web I believed I needed to pick up and ash hair dye so I picked up Clairol ( not perfect 10 ) in a dark ash blonde shade hoping that would fix the brass and cool down the color……It turned my hair a bit lighter…..did nothing to counter the brass and now in addition to the rainbow my hair color had become I also had a lovely “green” tone ( I do not blame the Clairol hair dye I used just in case your wondering. ) Now I’m in a frenzy, I bought silver shampoo…..did not work. I tried food coloring ( what a joke. ) I tried vitamin C tablets crushed up……nope……I did come across several youtube videos suggesting bleach ( no way ) I did that once in my 20’s and lost over half my hair……..never again……. At some point I came across this particular brand and color claiming it would help to neutralize the warm tones. After much research ( before and after photos, reviews and youtube videos ect I decided this was probably the correct color. My next problem was the fact that I had all this other crap on my hair……I had learned from past experience that putting color over bad color just leaves you with a new shade of bad color. In my internet searches I had come across hair dye strippers such as Color Oopps and One and only colorfix . I had never used a hair dye remover before so I was a little nervous about it. I read that it is “not” bleach and does not damage the hair. So I finally made my final decision to give it one last try to correct the problem myself before I figured I was going to have to go and pay some stylist hundreds of dollars to fix the problem.Yesterday was the day……My package from amazon arrived with the Clairol perfect 10 in lightest cool brown, one and only colorfix and I also ordered some really good Joico shampoo and conditioner ( just a quick note: I have very long, very thick and very coarse hair….by very long I meant down to my elbows at the longest point so I ordered the 2 pack of hair colour and only one box of the colorfix as I read there are up to 3 applications in one box.)My experience with the Colorfix: It stinks to holy *&^%$ ( I mean like someone ate rotten eggs and then passed wind ) sorry to be so vulgar butthat’s the truth. I followed the directions exactly ( I used all of the product given how long and thick my hair is. ) It did remove color…..that’s for sure…..yeah, it turned the lightest, brightest shade of orange you have ever seen…..I’m talking neon orange…..I tried not to panic as I had read this can happen but will be corrected when hair dye is added later. So I left it on for the full 20 minutes and rinsed as instructed ( its really important to follow the direction exactly and do not skip step 3 or the orange may not be as easily covered when dying later on). I then dried my hair ( if your going to follow the color removal immediately with a re-dye using Clairol Perfect 10 then your hair will need to be dry )Next: Clairol perfect 10 in Lightest Cool Brown……..First I got everything ready……I sectioned my hair, got a plastic baggy ready, put on a shirt I did not care much about, laid down towels and away I went. I prepared both boxes at the same time. I sectioned my hair into 2 sections ( top and bottom ) I put the hair color on the top panel first, once “completely saturated” I then removed the hair tie from the bottom portion of my hair and saturated it. The first thing I noticed was the smell which I will touch on in my summation. The second thing was that once the dye started processing it turned a sort of very dark ( almost black ) looking color with a strong blue hue with an undertone of purple…….I thought OMG…..what have I just done……oh well, to late now it was already in my hair. I waited the full 10 minutes ( although I can tell you the moment I saw the blueish purple I wanted to run for the shower ) and crossed my fingers. I rinsed for quite a while and then used the color seal conditioner that comes with the dye and left it in for around 10 minutes. And then came the moment……the one where you look in the mirror for the first time and to my delight my hair appeared to be a neutral Light/medium shade of brown and ( at least at that point) no hint of brass. Of course you wont really know until you have dried and styled so that’s what I did…………. WOOOOOWWW…….Possibly one of the prettiest, most natural looking hair colors I have ever seen come from a box of store purchased hair dye. The color came out even all over ( even though usually the ends will come out slightly darker with other dyes or at least that’s how it usually is for me.) And the best part……..NO BRASS……no red, no green, no orange, no yellow, no copper, no gold…….completely cool, completely neutral…….now I understand the blue/purple tintIn summation: What worked for me was to remove all the hair dye from my hair with One & Only Colorfix giving me a fresh clean pallet to start from Re-dying with Clairol Perfect 10 in Lightest Cool Brown Really conditioning my hair afterwardsColorfix Pro’s: It works ( at least it did for me, I cannot speak to how this product will work on dyed black or very dark hair ) There is more than enough product in one box to do all the hairColorfix Con’s: Its pricy…..around 17.00 dollars for one box It stinks to high heaven The box does not mention the orange color you may “temporarily” end up with so it comes as quite a shock The instructions are actually printed on the “inside” of the box…..no pamphlet….I suggest using scissors or you may accidently rip the instructions in half Does not come with gloves ( even though your instructed to wear them )Clairol Perfect 10 in Lightest Cool Brown Pro’s: Beautiful hair color Multi dimentional Short leave in time All over even colorClairol Perfect 10 Con’s: Pricier than most ( around 13.00 or more dollars per box ) but worth it in my opinion It stinks ( more so than others) not sure why that is Hard to find in this color in stores ( I hope they don’t dis-continue it ) so had to order on-line I also think it is worth mentioning that the hair color of the model on the box is not a very good representation of the actual color. The models hair looks much warmer than this color actually gives you ( depending on what you are looking for that could be good or bad )Over all I recommend this hair product and hope this ( very long ) review might help someone going through what I did. Cant make any promises and I am in no way a professional but it worked out for me

Great light auburn color!!
Easy to use, fast color set and amazingly natural light auburn shade! The comb applicator makes it easier for pulling the color through to the ends. Will purchase again!

Works well with a couple of caveatsâ¦
I normally use the Revlon Total Color 6R (the holy grail, wonderful hair dye that has almost zero smell and doesnât affect my hair texture) but the 6R in that one seems to have gone the way of the dodo so I tried this one, since it promised a 10 minute (vs 30) color time. I have wavy/curly, fine shoulder length hair that I have been coloring at home for years. (Strangers who would compliment my Revlon Total Color hair color would always be surprised when I told them it was box color.)For this product:Pros: I have used it twice now. The price (~$10) is reasonable. The color turns out pretty true. The 10 minutes is much easier to fit in to my schedule. The color mixture is thin so it spreads easily and I have plenty for shoulder length hair. The conditioner they provide smells great & does make my hair pretty soft. The cons: The hair color smell. It is absolutely nose hair curling – 100% chemical and makes my eyes water. I have sensitive (facial) skin and the dye will sting my face if I get any on it. I tried to go past 10 minutes on the first coloring and my scalp started to sting, so definitely only 10 minutes on 2nd coloring! After rinsing the dye out after the 10 minutes , my hair feels like a clump of straw (I donât normally have dry hair). Color only lasts with any vibrancy about 3 weeks for me (I wash my hair 3 days a week/but condition every day, and I blow dry 5 days a week, no heat styling tools). I have the greys/white around my temples/face, so maybe thatâs why I notice the fading sooner.

Waste of money
I use this the day before an office party and I read where it specifically told me not to leave it on for more than 10 minutes because it doesnât need it.Iâm wondering if thatâs because it doesnât workIt covered no grayCould not even tell that I dyed my hairDonât waste your money

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is
This hair dye sounded great. Only a 10 minute processing time and it would cover grades for quite a while. Well, it didnât work that way for me. I did it by the directions and a week later my grades are already showing the roots are lighter than the rest of my hair, if youâre not work well for me.
