Great for slick backs!
So after seeing everywhere that slick back buns are a thing. I had to try and achieve that look myself. The brush is very well made and good size too. The bristles are dense and sturdy enough to slick the hair back. It works very well and makes laying my hair down so easily. I donât have to fight with a regular brush to lay my hair down flat anymore. This brush has solved that problem!

I use this for wig styling
I don’t use this on my natural hair but I do on my wigs I style. Mostly to do ponytail styles or adding gel for smoothing.

Smooths hair
I like that this brush is pretty compact. It helps to smooth my hair when in a pony tail. I can get that nice sleek back professional look.

Too soft for thick hair
I took one bristle out and burned it to see if this is genuine boar bristle as opposed to plastic. It did pass the burn test.I have thick, straight hair that I like to brush with boar bristle to help distribute the scalp oil and tame the frizz. However, this brush is on the soft side and could not really reach my scalp. While it did help smooth out my hair on the surface, it is not hard enough to properly brush my hair.I am giving it a 4 because it is genuine boar bristle.

Not Good for My Loose Curls
My Boar Bristle Slick Back Hair Brush arrived sealed in a plastic bag. As an elderly woman, I grew up using boar bristle brushes and was a bit surprised by the size of this one. It is quite small and does not have a rounded head of bristles. They are in a straight line as pictured, and the entire brush gave the appearance of a clothing brush due to its being so small and narrow. In trying the brush on my layered hair, it seemed pretty much not to work. I have been using a brush specifically designed for curly hair, but I decided a boar bristle brush, like the ones I used when grown up, might be worth a try. I was, however, disappointed in the way it worked. Since my hair is layered, I usually brush in short strokes. That did not seem to work. I tried brushing in long strokes going down. That did not work. I tried brushing with my head lowered, which I also do with my curly brush. That did not work. No matter what I tried, it did not seem to work on my curly, layered hair. By the time I was finished, my hair was also full of static, which does not happen with my curly hairbrush.Perhaps this brush will work well on straight hair with a blunt cut or perhaps on a man’s short hair. I only know that it did not work at all well on my hair, leaving me surprised and disappointed. I suppose it could be my technique, but then I do not have any issues with other brushes I have used or now use nor with any combs I use.As far as the brush itself, it appears to be of good quality. It is nicely made, has no apparent flaws, and it has no odors of any kind. Unfortunately, due to my personal experience, I am unable to recommend it.

Strong
Boar bristle brushes are the best. The bristles are strong and work well to help he untangle and smooth my hair. The handle is comfortable in my hair. This brush works well for me.

Godd for smoothing hair-great for both women and men
While I do own a boar bristle brush, I’ve never owned one like this. It’s a fairly small brush with a short handle. The bristles are short-a bit over a half inch)–and medium/firm. The bristles are set directly into the wood.. The brush is contoured to fit the curve of the scalp. This brush is comfortable to hold and pretty well made .A few bristles were too long and stood out from the rest. They were easy enough to clip with a pair of scissors.I”m a woman with straight, fine, thin air that’s below chin length. This brush made my hair very smooth and shiny. and did a good job of taming flyways. Because it gripped my hair so well, I did notice a few extra hairs being pulled out. I just have to be a bit more careful with it.I had my husband try it so I could report how well it works on men. His hair i naturally wavy and he just got it cut short. This brush worked very well on him. He liked it enough that II ended up giving it to him. So I can report that this is good for both men and women. It’s a nice little brush.

Great size, real boar bristles, good value
This is not as large as my other brushes, but still has plenty of surface area to be useful. The brush/bristles have a very slight curve to match to the shape of your head which helps make brushing more comfortable. There were a few stray bristles and one that was an odd length which I trimmed, but nothing I could complain about at the list price. I tested one of the bristles by burning and it smelled like burning hair (i.e. like you left a curling iron on way too long), which is the only way I know to “test” and confirm that these are real boar bristles and not just plastic.I’m looking forward to using this at home as well as for travel, as it will fit actually in my toiletry bag.
