Perfect for stubborn hair
I have extremely stubborn hair when it comes to curling. No hair salon has ever gotten my hair to curl up and not go flat within an hour. Bed head curling wands get the job done and are super affordable. Love it.

This is a very easy to use curling iron with a tapered barrel and a single temperature setting. I’ve never used a curling iron that didn’t have a clamp before. I’ve never had much of an issue with indentations because I pull my hair through enough to ensure that the ends are completely sandwiched between the barrel and clamp. Takes a few more seconds, and I need to work with smaller sections, but the result is so much nicer for me. In the past, I have had irons that clamp too tightly and don’t let me release my hair as quickly as I need (I have very fine hair) as well as those that don’t clamp tightly enough and let my hair slip right through. I thought eliminating the clamp might involve a bit of a learning curve for me, but as it turns out this iron is just as easy to use curls my hair just as quickly. I did think the curling iron looked kind of light-weight and maybe a bit flimsy in the pictures accompanying the product description, but it looks nicer in person. Once I had it in my hand, it felt well-made and sturdy without being too heavy. For me, the 1″ barrel diameter is the most versatile, and I do like the taper. I can leave the ends straight for a casual, wavy look, or with a bit more time and finesse, I can curl them, too (which is what I prefer). This curling iron is cool at the tip and it does come with a glove to help prevent accidental burns, which is nice but I am far more likely to burn my forearm if I’m not being careful (not the fault of the iron, just my innate klutziness). So far, I’ve managed to pay attention while using this iron so I haven’t burned myself. This iron does get much hotter than I need. The product description says it “heats up to 400 degrees F” and it does. Quickly. I could see the prominent on/off switch in the pictures, but I was wondering if there were other temperature selections. And there aren’t, which limits my use of this curling iron to just occasionally, as I usually use much lower temperatures on my fragile, baby-fine hair. This won’t replace my full-featured curling irons, but I really like the tapered barrel, so this will be a nice addition to my collection of hair tools.

Clampless Curling Iron
This took a little getting used to for me because I’ve always used an iron with a full-length clamp, but while different, it has a perk- no crimp/clamp lines. This can give you more traditional curls if you hold the ends of your hair close, or looser beach waves if you hold the ends a little further out and don’t coil as closely. It takes a little experimenting.
