    Great for soft curls
Ok if you are unskilled at hair (like me) this may take some practice, but you wrap your hair around this in sections, and get a nice soft curl with it, or loose waves. I’d start trying it on a day you’re not going somewhere special, so you get the trick of it before needing your hair to look great. This is a good hair tool to have and gives my straight hair an option of curls on occasion.

    Takes practice
This is my first time using a spiral iron like this. The instructions are minimal and I didn’t watch any videos. It only has On and Off and no temperature control. There is no auto off. The cord is long and thin (the cord is light weight which I think makes it easier to maneuver the iton). It’s fairly light weight overall. The instructions say it can be used at any voltage and that you just need an adapter to get it to plug in if the prongs are different. You don’t need a voltage converter.I felt very uncoordinated trying this for the first time. I didn’t find the glove to be very useful. The glove comes with a note saying it is for protection against accidentally touching the barrel, and that the glove will melt with prolonged contact with the heated barrel.I managed to make some loose waves all through out my long thick hair. The curls added some nice volume. It didn’t take long at all. Somewhere on the outside of the box it says “loose curls”. I ended up more with soft waves, but I think with practice, I could get loose curls. When I first started using it, I felt so uncoordinated and I was surprised that after a couple tries, I was able to get my hair wrapped around properly. You don’t have to wrap it a lot of times around the barrel. Once you wrap a section around the barrel one or two times, you can glide the barrel up towards your scalp or down to the end of the section to curl the entire length. You hold on to the end of the section to be able to glide it up and down and also supply a little bit of tension so your hair so that it makes good contact with the barrel. Someone else reviewed this and said it’s not good good for long hair, but that’s inaccurate. It’s great for long hair once you realize you don’t wrap all your length (like with the old style curling hair with a clamp). This is a completely different technique.Shortly after realizing I only need to wrap each section onto the barrel one time, I decided I liked it and that it would be worth it to me to learn how to use it. I usually wear my hair smooth and straight. I occasionally use a flat iron, but 99% of the time, I just style my hair sleek and straight using my hair dryer.I’m pleased to be able to add this to my options. It’s nice to have a more voluminous style sometimes.

Bed Head Curlipops 1” Tourmaline Ceramic Styling Iron
I’m still working on my technique using the Bed Head Curlipops Spiral Iron. Personally, I have found it difficult to figure out how to hold the iron in a way that I can wind my hair away from my face on my right side due to the fixed direction of the spiral on the iron. After struggling a bit, I did find a YouTube video that should help the next time I use the iron. I simply searched “Bed Head Spiral Iron.” The YouTuber I watched achieved a better result than I was able to on my first effort but I feel more confident moving forward with her detailed visual instruction. As far as features go, this iron is bare bones. There are no heat adjustment settings, just one switch that turns the iron on/off. The switch is located right on the handle where it’s easy to switch it off accidentally while in use. I kept trying to curl my hair only to realize that the reason I wasn’t getting good curl form was because I had shut it off while winding my hair. The curling wand does come equipped with a heat resistant tip making it easier to hold while in use. It also includes a heat resistant glove to prevent your fingers from getting burnt. The glove isn’t as thick as other heat resistant gloves I’ve used but I do find it a little easier to section my hair without a bulkier glove getting in my way. The directions state not to keep the glove in direct contact with the wand to prevent it from melting and that it’s ONLY to guard your fingers from burning. It’s a nice product depending on your learning curve if you’re inexperienced with wand irons. Settings cannot be adjusted for different hair types/ temperature needs and the power switch is in a very inconvenient spot on the handle. I feel that this wand is best suited for shoulder to mid length hair. The barrel may not be long enough for really long tresses. My fine, shoulder length hair almost used up most of the length of the barrel while curling the top sections of my hair (when starting close to my root for max volume) where it’s longest.
