comb/brush set
The set looks niceâbamboo handles are smooth and pretty. The paddle brush is pleasant feeling against the scalp (great for a mini scalp massage); however, I likely wonât be using it too much in my hair since I have long curly hair and it seems to tangle too easily in the bamboo pins. I would have preferred it if the round brush didnât have the nylon bristles mixed in with the boar bristles. The comb is ok–it works, but my hair doesnât seem to like it as much as other combs with different styles/teeth width. All in all, this is an acceptable gift set, but better suited to someone who favors straight/slightly wavy hair styles.

There are no splinters in the bamboo. Itâs really smooth and I think there is a very, very thin layer of lacquer on top. Itâs a nice, solid set.Comb: I canât put my finger on exactly why, but this comb and my hair are not a good match. Sometimes it feels like itâs not going through my hair at all. Thereâs really no reason for me to not like it though. Itâs smooth and very modern at looking. Itâs pretty. I just had to reach for my old comb to finish styling my hair for some reason. It cleans the hair brushes really well :)Paddle Brush: This has a pretty peach cushion on it, but itâs a harder brush. It feels heavy on my head. The bristles ball are rounded and donât scratch at all. It detangled my hair really fast, but wasnât very gentle. The handle is easy to hold and my hand doesnât slip while using it. It does make a hollow sound when I use it, but it doesnât make the âwhooshingâ sound that some cushion brushes make. It was easy to clean the brush with the included comb. Itâs about an average weight for a brush this size (itâs not the heaviest but itâs not the lightest, either).Round Brush: The brush works well and is pretty gentle when untangling my hair. Itâs a little scratchy and a little stingy. I used the comb to clean my hair out of the brush and lots of bristles came out. I know bristle brushes are supposed to be overstuffed and that shedding is normal, but this brush shed more bristles than Iâve ever seen. You may want to clean it over a wastebasket.Verdict: Nice set 🙂

Mixed quality
The round brush and comb are very cheap looking. I gave the comb to my boyfriend for his short hair. The round brush got stuck in my hair the first and last time I used it. But the broad brush with the wide-spaced synthetic bristles is great. It’s a little smaller than other paddle brushes but I actually prefer that.

Great gift
I still haven’t decided if I’m going to use these for myself or save them to give as a gift. I personally have short hair that’s relatively thin, so the wide brush is something I would definitely use. I don’t have a lot of use for the round brush or bamboo comb, but the 3-piece set is very nice and seems like very good quality so I’m tempted to hold onto all of them. But I have a feeling I’ll be holding onto the set to give as a gift.The bamboo handles and body are so much nicer to hold and use than a regular plastic brush. They are also something that looks nicer than a regular brush and won’t feel like something you need to hide in a drawer – you can leave it out on a vanity and your guests will think you’re stylish.The brush bristles are pretty standard. The wide brush has them spaced far apart which makes for easy cleaning of hair. The round brush has nylon bristles and is great for anyone with long hair or hair that they need to curl or wave. The comb is kind of cool in that I’ve never had a wooden comb before. All in all this is a brush/comb set that I think anyone would be happy to have.

High Quality Brush & Comb Set
My wife really loves her MenGate brush and comb set. She appreciates the simple design and comfortable handles. The hair brush is nice and large and the brushes are easy to clean. She can brush her hair and it doesn’t pull or snag and they’re comfortable on her scalp. They’re very well made. Such a great price too! She’d recommend these to anyone.
