When I was a kid, using a curling iron meant first grabbing the ends of your hair with a clip and wrapping them around the iron. I can still remember the smell of singed hair and the little crease the clip would leave in the curl. There was very little control and the results were hit or miss.Fast forward to the past two years when my daughter has been dancing with an Irish step dancing company. The dancers are required to curl their hair into springy ringlets for dance performances. We’ve tried everything, from regular old-school curling irons to rag curlers left on all night to foam curlers, heater curlers, and everything in between. She was stuck either with wearing curlers overnight– not fun– or getting mediocre results with a curling iron.This curling iron is light years from either of those scenarios. For one thing, you set the temperature according to the type of hair you have. Makes so much sense! The instructions are very clear. Also, there is no clip; you simply wear the included heat-proof glove and wrap your hair around the iron, giving a much more natural look. With a little experimentation you can do a variety of styles. Not only is the actual curling a very quick process, but the curls stay in much longer– important for a dance performance!The curling iron comes with a little stand to protect whatever surface you set it on. It also has a wonderful box with a magnetic closure. It’s so nice to have a box that is actually adequate for storing the item.We are thrilled with this curling iron. It’s perfect for the dance recitals, and my daughter is having fun experimenting with styles for every day.
