Curlsmith’s In-Shower Style Fixer is a super strong hold styling gel which tames frizz and flyaways, giving extreme definition to your curls and coils and keep your style last for longer – without drying hair. This gel has been engineered to work best on soaking wet hair so apply it straight after your regular wash routine to lock in the moisture from the water. HOW TO USE
Step 1
Rub the product between your hands and apply on soaking wet hair with the “praying hands” method, smoothing from top to ends.
Step 2
Flip your head upside down and scrunch gently with upwards motions to encourage curl to spring back and form their pattern.
Step 3
Air dry or diffuse. Make sure you flip your head in all directions while drying to increase volume. Do not touch hair while drying.
Step 4
Once completely dry, scrunch again to ‘break the cast’, the crunchy feeling gels greate, and make your hair super soft and bouncy.

After trying 20+ different products and mixing 4-5 products to get the results I wanted, I finally found the one and only winner! This product is amazing! You only need a very small amount, and I suggest diluting it with water. I finally have zero frizz, even after several days.This product has a hard hold, and is crunchy. It holds beautifully, and controls frizz better than any product Iâve used before. You can use this product right in the shower, without towel drying your hair.To keep your natural curl pattern, comb through your hair with your fingers, then apply this product while your hair is wet. Not for meâ¦..or is it?
This gel was just too much for my hair. I tried so many times to make it work. I even used a watered down dime size amount on my entire head and it was still too much. I have fine hair and itâs low porosity so it just isnât my thing. It arrived quickly, smelled nice and would probably be someone elseâs holy grail I take no stars away. I got the mini to try, glad they have that option.UPDATE: Gave up on this product and was trying to to give it to a âcurlierâ friend, who asked âdo you use it with a leave in?â I did not. Iâm wavy so I avoid leave ins and creams but since it got brought up figured Iâd try, guess what? It worked beautifully. I get the hype now and have ordered the full size. This product takes practice I will say that but if you can crack the code itâs amazing.

I apply this to my wet hair and let it air dry and my curls always turn out perfect. You can scrunch your hair to get rid of the crunchiness and youâre left with shiny, hydrated curls. This product is gold to me. Worth the price and doesnât leave a greasy residue which is a must for me.

Amazing product, horrible packaging
I love this gel. The results are undeniable. My curls look amazing and Iâve gotten so many compliments.But this tube is comes in is awful! The cap came broken. So I canât close it so it stands with the opening facing down. Gravity would absolutely help get the product out of the tube.Itâs very difficult to squeeze. So much so I purchased a separate tube squeezer but it didnât work. Itâs always a bit difficult when youâre styling your hair because your hands are wet and slippery. But I found this tube, particularly difficult to manage during styling. So much so that I canât imagine struggling through this again and I honestly canât wait to be done with it and hope to find something that provides similar results in better packaging. I would absolutely return if they were to improve.

Fantastic hold and lasts for days
I am very happy with the Curlsmith in-shower style fixer. I now buy it regularly. After I am done washing my hair, I turn the water off, put in my leave-in, then the Curlsmith in-shower style fixer before leaving the shower space. This gel gives me a nice cast, yet it breaks up easily. Most importantly, it keeps my 2C/3A curls from getting frizzy and last for a good five days. It does not create fake dandruff either (something I hate with some other hair gels).

I feel like this review is going to be a long one, but stay with me.I thought Iâd share my experiences with the physical and mental struggle with trying to achieve a state of health and growth with curly hair. I am British mixed Afro Caribbean and my whole life iâve found my hair to be something I was ashamed of growing up in a white community with constant comparing to my white friends with their straight hair that had new styles in constantly and from that I became very envious of the versatility of their straight frizz-free hair. Furthermore I grew up with my mum who is white (absolutely no negativity towards her because she took care of my hair very well and often learnt how to manage it from my dads side of the family who is black when we had the chance to see them- which was rarely.) But as good as she was I didnât have a mother who had the experience with growing up with curly hair so this made it difficult for me to relate to anyone.At primary, I would have my hair slicked into a pony tail or a braid because I hated how it looked out and as I got older that was the only thing I would do with my hair. In high school, I would put my hair into a slick back ponytail every day with just gel, no other product and I done that for 3 years. In year 10 I really started to think about my hair more and i grew increasingly unhappy with it. I was still very envious of my white peers! So everyday i would slick it back into a range of hairstyles: Half up half down, bun, ponytails, french braids etc. I loved doing my hair at this point of time and i finally started to see how beautiful my hair could be when I put some effort into it. I started exploring brands like shea moisture, african pride, mielle and many more and I started to fall in love with my hair.But then I decided to take my hair more seriously.I spent hours researching my hair, hair type, hair porosity, moisturising ingredients, best products, hair routines etc as I have always been insecure about my frizz in my hair and I wanted to do something about it. In 2021, the back of my hair wouldnât even curl because the amount of times i had put high tension onto my hair from slick backs and a lack of moisturising ingredients- it would just frizz! Anyways, I found out my hair texture was a mix of 3b, 3c, 4a, my roots are tighter and the shaft being slightly looser. My porosity type is high porosity as my hair soaks up moisture quickly and would frizz and dry out easily. With this information I tried popular brands such as shea moisture (didnât like, not moisturising at all and doesnât penetrate the hair shaft, although their deep conditioners are great) mielle (loved this brand but they changed the formula and there has been controversy about their products causing hair loss, so I stopped using it) and now finally curlsmith.It has taken me years to get where i am today, iâve provided photos of my hair in 2021 up until today in 2024. Itâs taken me 3 years of love and struggle to get to where i am and many small hair cuts. I used the Curlsmith protein salve in my hair before i shower, Redken bonding shampoo, Shea moisture deep conditioner, the leave in oil cream and the shower-in gel and a diffuser and these are my results each time i use them which last around 7 days if i wrap it properly at night.I am proud to say after coming all this way I well and truly love my curls, I always have my hair down or iâll VERY occasionally style it into a bun or ponytail. Curlsmith has the most natural ingredients you can get and is a great place to start if you want to bring your curls back from the dead; it is possible with time and patience! I hope my âstoryâ has provided some comfort to people who experienced/experiencing what iâve been through and to let them know it will all get better and to love your hair unconditionally!
