Great reef-safe sunscreen, wish it was waterproof
Love this mineral sunscreen, would re-purchase for future tropical vacations, like the one I took this to in Hawaii. For a mineral sunscreen, it’s very liquidy- one of the easiest I’ve tried to spread on the skin, with almost no white cast. Also did not cause me to break out! I have a medium skintone (Y405 MUFE) and this does not make my fast look like a ghost so it’s my preferred facial sunscreen, if I have to use a mineral one. The only bummer is that it’s not water-proof, so I’ll wear this on a tropical vacation where we’re in the city and there’s only a chance we’ll go swimming later in the day. Gives me peace of mind on protecting the reefs.

Good for you, good for reefs
My wife and I were looking for a âreef safeâ sunscreen for our 12-day trip to St. John. After reading reviews, we got two 3.4 oz. bottles of Hawaiian Tropic Mineral Sunscreen SPF50.One of the criticisms of reef safe sunscreen is that it doesnât spread well. And yes, this was a bit more challenging to spread. But it wasnât bad, really, and itâs nice to think you might be helping the reefs, which helps the fish, etc.The smell was wonderfulâa tropical, coconut scent. We loved putting it on just for that! Weâd start every day putting on sunscreen before getting dressed, then re-apply if needed after swimming. The 3.4 oz. bottle meets the standard for carry-on, so it traveled well through the airport. We thought we might need to buy more on the island (where itâs significantly more expensive), but the 3.4 oz. bottle each of us had got us through the entire 12-day trip, and we used it daily. We even have a little bit leftover!Iâm sure weâll buy this again, even if weâre not going near a coral reef. Itâs a great product, and it worked very wellâwe got plenty of sun, and neither of us was sunburned even once!

EXPIRATION DATE TOO SOON
This sunscreen expires January 20, 2025, and arrived on December 17th, which is barely enough time to use it before the expiration date. Very disappointing. I need at least one of them for a trip right now.

The actual SPF works great. I like the scent, texture, ability to soak in. But, ordered the item in June 2024 and the expiration date is August 2024.

The best 50 spf sunscreen!
This is the best 50 spf mineral sunscreen I have found! It really gives a barrier to prevent sunburn on the skin! I use this 50 spf sunscreen on myself my kids my husband! It stays on for a really long time! And on my horses with pink noses! The cream is light, a little watery in the palm. It feels light and is not sticky on the skin. The smell is lightly tropical, which are my favorite smells! It does leave a faint white color on the skin when you put it on. It does itâs job really good stopping a sunburn!

Not very effective
It’s very lightweight and doesn’t leave a white cast, however it also isn’t very effective. I got this for a vacation and applied a liberal amount and still felt my skin burning no matter how much I put on and sure enough I did get a sunburn and ended up having to use my face sunscreen on my whole body to feel like I was getting proper protection. It did have a nice smell and I could see it being effective enough if you’re just outside for very short periods of time throughout a normal day like no more than 20 minutes at a time.

I would not buy this product if i were you
I purchased this two days ago, and received it yesterday. The box was damaged but that’s no big deal. I opened it and put some on my hand, and it was SO OILY and congealed which is why i was purchasing another sunscreen due to this happening to mine. I waited a while for it to cool down, tried it again, same thing. It rubs out really nice but i don’t want to put it on my face in the first place. I decided to order a replacement and see if i had accidentally left it outside too long, or something else had gone wrong and i received my replacement today.I went outside and grabbed it as soon as it was delivered. (Pretty fast shipping was nice) However, the box was damaged again, and the picture above is what it looked like. (same thing) Very disappointed, and as you can see the box is not the same design as the product info pictures and with everything taken into account and it being on sale for 6$ my best guess is they redesigned their product and they are trying to get rid of the old ones that are not that great. I will look to find this same product in store.
