How Did We Get Our Start?
Back in the mid-1990s, our founder Bill Whyte worked as a carpenter. He worked hard, and so did his hands. They would often split and crack in the frigid New England winters. One night, seeking a soothing solution, he mixed up some beeswax and olive oil to create a simple herbal balm. It helped his hands so much, he decided to share it with everyone he knew – and the rest, as they say, is Badger history.

Thick but manageable
For a mineral based sunscreen, I expected this to be thick, and it was for sure, but it had minimal, of at all, white cast, which you don’t find often with mineral sunscreens. I used this every day in Hawaii, and it worked perfectly – wasn’t too sticky, wasn’t too oily, it’s a great size to take on the go for activities, it has next to no smell, and it was safe to use on your face too. Best mineral one I’ve found thus far, and it’s reef safe. I’d pick this one over several other reef-safe sunscreen options, by a long shot.Just a note – if you’ve never used mineral sunscreen before, go into using this with an open mind, it doesn’t spread like your standard drugstore sunscreen such as Banana Boat products, etc., it is thicker and takes a bit more rub.

This product is fantastic. I did not burn even after being in the sun for long periods of time. I did reapply but not as often as I thought. The tan I did get was more golden and not dull. It is thick and youâre going to have to make an effort to rub it in. Iâm medium brown and it didnât leave a white cast if I continued to rub it in but my husband, who is darker complected, had a white cast. It wasnât horrible but it was there. The better you rub it in the less youâll notice the cast. Youâre also going to have to put in an effort in the showerâ¦scrub hard or double cleanse. The good outweighs the bad for us in this case andI was happy I wasnât a victim of the Caribbean sun this year!

Clean clean clean
I am allergic to sunscreens, apparently – annoying. This one has only a few ingredients, nothing weird and chemically, no need to cross-reference every incomprehensible word to see what it is and how it might mess up my face. Because zinc sits on top of the skin, it isnât an irritant, but effectively reflects the sun – great. I tried Badger a long time ago when my kids were tiny and to be honest I didnât like it enough to repurchase. I found it chalky and hard to spread. But someone recommended I try it again and I did, mainly because I couldn’t find anything else like it (most of the zinc formulas have a bunch of other weird stuff in them). Badger must have improved the formula in the years since because itâs great now. It leaves no cast (granted, I am fair-skinned) and it feels wonderful. Itâs slick in a nice way and feels *almost* greasy but it doesnât leave any shine and actually works really well as a primer under foundation. I love it so much. Itâs one of those products where I feel motivated to write a review so that enough people buy it that it doesnât get discontinued (ie this review is self-serving). So get yourself some Badger spf, please 😉

Does the job without heavy greasy residue
A little hard to get out of the container but better when you get used to it. Light feeling but works. Love that the packaging is not plastic!

Great Natural sunscreen! (for some)
We all have sensitive skin in my family. My wife and son love this all natural sunscreen. My 9 year old son wears it while playing soccer and has never once complained. Neither of them have had breakouts because of using it, which has not been the case with many sunscreens. It doesn’t have the harmful chemicals as many leading brands do.Time for the some… I cannot use this product. I put it on and everything was fine for 10-15 minutes. Then my face started burning! I had already left the house by then to take the kiddo to a soccer game. I used a damp cloth to remove as much as I could, but I couldn’t remove it until we got home and hour and a half later. After washing it off my face was so red, it looked like I had been in the sun all day without any sunscreen. It continued to burn all the next day and after that my skin started flaking. I have very sensitive skin and thought the all natural option would be fine, but something in the ingredients my skin really did not like!

Amazing mineral sunscreen!
I bought this for our trip to Hawaii. I had never used mineral sunscreen. It is a bit thick but you just keep working it in and it leaves no white residue. We stayed outdoors everyday snorkeling, hiking and beach time. No one got a sunburn. I love this sunscreen. It’s also reef safe which is a must have in Hawaii.

Great Sunscreen Protection
I live in Florida & the UV rays are super intense. I have an olive tone skin but still burn if I don’t have proper sun protection. What I really like about this sunscreen is it lasts for hours after properly applied, & even after going in the salt water of the Gulf of Mexico. Yes, it’s thick & takes time to apply & leaves a slight white residue. Would you prefer the alternative of using inferior sunscreens with carcinogens in the ingredients & burn & get skin cancer?????
